The Beautiful Minds “Community Impact Awards Gala” will honor and celebrate the works and lives of professional individuals who have excelled in their chosen careers in the primary and behavioral health field and who have made a major impact not only in the lives of individuals and families, but the Duval and surrounding counties communities as a whole. The nominees will be presented at the “Beautiful Minds Inaugural Gala” on Saturday, September 23, 2023, at 6:00 p.m. at 841 Prudential Drive (Old Aetna Building), Jacksonville, Florida 32207.
Nominations: You are invited to nominate up to three individuals who have demonstrated dedication, support, a strong work ethic and are deeply connected to our shared professional career field. Please be specific as to what your nominee has done to earn your nomination. Nomination deadline: Must be received via email by June 30, 2023. All entries will be evaluated by the Community Impact Awards Committee and will choose the top nominees to be finalists at the Beautiful Minds Inaugural Gala. All finalists will receive a congratulatory letter no later than July 14, 2023. Winners will be announced at the awards gala.
“Beautiful Minds Inaugural Gala” - This is a formal attire event. We request all attendees wear shades of green or blue, or any color of your choice. Dinner will be served along with live music and other entertainment. We encourage you to invite your staff, family, and friends. We are excited to tell you that our gala keynote speaker will be Billina Shaw, MD, MPH, FAPA,
Dr. Billina Shaw is a Senior Medical Advisor within the Center for Mental Health Services at the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). She is triple board certified in the areas of child, adolescent, and adult psychiatry and addiction medicine and is recognized as a Fellow of both the American Psychiatric Association and the American Society of Addiction Medicine. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Yale University, Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, and Master’s Degree of Public Health from the Bloomberg Johns Hopkins School of Public Health where she was a Bloomberg American Health Initiative Fellow in the Addiction and Overdose focus area. She did her general adult and child and adolescent psychiatry training at the University of Maryland/Sheppard Pratt residency training program. Prior to working at SAMHSA, she served as the Medical Director of the Behavioral Health Division of the Prince George’s County Health Department. At SAMHSA, some of her areas of focus include serving as a liaison to the 988 and Behavioral Health Crisis Coordinating Office, co-leading the Black Youth Suicide Prevention Initiative, directing the Interdepartmental Serious Mental Illness Coordinating Committee, and assisting with Center activities concerning the behavioral health impacts of Long COVID.
